20 October 2009, Kuta-Bali:  The Coca-Cola ISC Tour is delighted to announce that Rip Curl will be hosting the historical first-ever ISC Longboard competition as part of their exciting lineup of surfing action at this coming weekend’s Rip Curl Surf and Music Festival on legendary Kuta Beach.  

“Longboarding is the core of surfing…down at the root level….where surfing started, so as a core surf company Rip Curl is very pleased to be adding a longboarding division to our Surf And Music Festival agenda, in addition to the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Masters, and our GromSearch Final.  Together with the music, games and all the entertainment, this will be a very full weekend of fun for everyone at Kuta Beach,” said Rip Curl’s Marketing Manager James Hendy today.

The action will kick off on Friday morning October 23 at 8 am at Halfways on Kuta Beach, as there is a rising tide coupled with a new swell that should make for perfect conditions for the international field of men and women longboard aficionado’s.  They have been waiting to break out their 9 foot plus boards and show off their old school and new school styles for the fans on the beach, so get out there early and plan to enjoy a great show!

Longboarders from Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii, the USA, Italy, and Brazil are expected to be participating in this event, with all but the finals being held on Friday.  The final will be held on Sunday together with the finals from all the other divisions.  The winner will receive a special hand-carved trophy and a winner’s check for 2.5 million rupiah.  

The top placing Indonesian longboarder will be crowned the Coca-Cola ISC Longboard Champion for 2009 and receive a trophy and a 5 million rupiah cash prize at the Coca-Cola-ISC Awards Presentation that will be held in mid November.
